Dahlia is very useful of
their varieties of forms,different sizes,different colors,ease of
cultivation.it is introduced in indian subcontinant in 1857.
Dopati
It has an interesting name that is touch me not.Its body is covered with thorn.Leaves are serret.It is cultivated in small scale.
Chrysanthemun
It is known as queen of the east.It is native to asia and
Europe.It is propagated by sucker and cutting.Harvesting is done when mid
flower starts opening.
GERBERA
It is commonly known as berberton daisy.The genus Gerbera was named in honour of German
naturalist Traugott Gerbera.This is native to South Africa and Asian region.I
like this flower personally.I was visiting to BARI .I saw a large number of
Gerbera flowers with different color.The colors are really attractive.But the
Field worker does not allow us to pick up more than one flower.So we were
forced to steal the flower….:D.I must cultivate this flower in next winter
season.
ORCHID
The family of orchid is Orchidaceae.Common belief about
orchid is that it is found only in dark damp spots in jungle.But in reality all
parts of glob,sandy desert of Australia and Africa,as semi aquatic plants in
snow covered peaks of the Himalayas it is found.Orchid is a beautiful items for
indoor decoration.Orchid can be grown on trees or rocks or on ground.But it has
an problem.A plant takes long time to flower(nearly 8years).It is really hard
to wait patiently.
